New Orleans

Super Bowl 2024

Super Bowl Bound!

When the Chiefs made their third consecutive super bowl, we made a last minute decision to take our new trailer, Big Willy, down to New Orleans to be part of the experience. We weren’t planning on actually going to the game, but once we got down there (and saw ticket prices coming down to a more tolerable price), we decided to go for it.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way… The game stunk! The outcome stunk! BUT, we still had a great time!

We met our friends, Jackie and Greg, and made the most of our time in NOLA. We attended the superbowl parade where we caught about 20 lbs of Mardi Gras beads. We went to the NFL experience to soak in all the atmosphere we could. We absolutely loved the French Quarter. The architecture and the vibe were amazing. We certainly wish the game outcome had been different, but we are really glad we went.

Swamp Tour

One of the highlights was our Swamp tour with the Louisiana Tour Company. We boarded an airboat and headed into the swamp. We were amazed by the diversity of landscapes we saw including the bayou, the marsh, the lakes, and, of obviously, the swamp. We were really hoping to see an alligator at some point, but were managing our expectations. Turns out we need not have worried. We saw about 20 gators, some, as you can see from the photos, very up close and personal. It was all great until the tour guide, in response to a question, said the alligators could very easily jump up into the boat if they wanted. That put a different spin on things. He told us not to worry as the gators were more scared of us than we were of them…UMM…we don’t think so!
